    Markko Martin - Nesretno testiranje Peugeota 307 WRC

    Peugeot se pokušava dobro pripremiti za ''domaći'' Monte Carlo. Francuski tim je organizovao jednonedeljno testiranje 307-ice, a zadnja dva dana vozilo se na stazi "Saint- Bonnet le Froid". Martin je vozio na zadnja tri dana testa upoznavajući tako 307-icu.

    Na nesreću, kako za Peugeot tako i za Martina, test je završio ranije. Prvo je Martin na stazi pokupio neku jadnu životinju nakon samo dve vožnje. 307-ica je bila poprilično oštećena ali opet ne tako jako kao životinja, tako da su je Peugeotovi mehaničari uspeli pripremiti za nastavak.

    Martin je odmah po nastavku, tamo negde posle ručka (pitam se što je bilo sa onom životinjom), uspeo sleteti s puta i doleteti na krov sada totalno uništene 307-ice. Srećom Martin i njegov suvozač Michael Park su se izvukli bez ikakvih ozleda.

    Nadamo se da mu je ovo iskustvo sa, u protekloj sezoni razočaravajućom, 307-icom pomoglo da je stvarno bolje upozna.

    Uverljivo najbolji na Monte Carlu

    Svetski prvak Sebastien Loeb besprekornom je vožnjom pobedio na ovogodišnjem Monte Carlo Rallyu, na kojem je već dva puta pobeđivao. Savršen početak za Francuza koji je na cilj stigao tri minute pre drugoplasiranog Tonija Gardemeistera u Ford Focusu RS WRC. Citroenov dobar start u sezonu 2005. nastavio se pobedom u juniorskom prvenstvu, gde pod patronatom Colina McRae-a nastupa mladi Britanac Kris Meeke sa Citroen C2 Super 1600. Meeke je vodio uzbudljivu bitku sa Kosti Katajamakijem, vozačem Suzuki Ignisa, ali je ipak bio brži za 14.5 sekundi.

    Loeb je postavio najbrža vremena na čak 9 od 15 brzinaca, a još je značajnije da su na njima vladali različiti uslovi ? od suve do vrlo mokre podloge sa ledenim delovima. Francois Duval u drugoj Xsari WRC, držao je drugo mesto, pre nego što je završio svoj nastup zabivši se u stub.

    Rezultati WRC Monte Karlo izgledaju ovako:

      Le Mans 2005 - Loeb će voziti 24-satnu trku

      Svetski prvak u WRC-u, Francuz Sebastein Loeb, potvrdio je nastup na legendarnoj trci 24 časa Le Mansa, na rasporedu 18-19. juna. Loeb će voziti za ekipu Pescarolo Sport zajedno sa Ericom Helaryem i Soheil Ayariem. ?Nemam nameru preći na trke izdržljivosti ali uveren sam kako će biti zabavno voziti u Le Mans-u?, rekao je Loeb. Loeb je trenutno drugi u WRC plasmanu sa zaostatkom od jednog boda za Peterom Solbergom.

        Ovoga vikenda okončan je Kiparski reli, a nadmoćnom vožnjom u svojoj Citroen Xari WRC pobedu je osigurao branilac naslova, prošlogodišnji svetski prvak Sebastien Loeb. To je Loebova treća pobeda za redom u odbrani timskog svetskog naslova kao tima i kao vozača.

        O dominaciji Francuza tokom celog relija govori podatak da je postavio najbrža vremena na 12 od 18 brzinskih ispita, te da je poveo od 2. brzinskog ispita i zadržao vodstvo do kraja takmičenja. Na kraju, Loeb je bio u prednosti 4 minute ispred drugoplasiranog vozača.

        Četvrtom pobedom Francuz je povećao svoje vodstvo na 11 bodova, dok Citroen u borbi za timski naslov zaostaje samo devet bodova za Peugeotom.

        Već četiri pobede, a još je 10 trka do kraja, znači da Loeb ima velike šanse da sruši svoj prošlogodišnji rekord kada je pobedio šest puta u sezoni. Loeb je prezadovoljan sa svojom Xarom i komentarisao je da je neverovatno to što na tako teškom reliju nisu imali niti jedan mehanički kvar.

          LE MANS 24 HOURS, PEUGEOT PUTS HDi POWER AND PARTICULATE FILTER TECHNOLOGY ON POLE


          In perfect keeping with its values, which include dynamism and innovation, Peugeot is to take up a new technological challenge with a view to winning the Le Mans 24 Hours with an HDi diesel-powered car equipped with a diesel particulate filter system (DPFS).

          The history of the make has always been actively associated with world class motor sport and its record features a long list of wins and titles, both in rallying and in circuit racing across the globe.

          When it first announced its intention to withdraw from the World Rally Championship at the end of 2005, Peugeot underlined its determination to pursue its policy of competing at the highest level and has decided on an innovative objective: victory in the celebrated Le Mans 24 Hours with a diesel-powered car.

          While this new programme will focus on the great French endurance classic, it will also take in the five rounds of the Le Mans Endurance Series (Spa, Monza, Silverstone, Nürburgring and Istanbul).

          The Le Mans 24 Hours has always stood out as a pitiless test-bed when it comes to validating technological breakthroughs that can be carried over to road cars. It is also a race that enjoys outstanding media coverage and last year's event, which attracted a crowd of more than 200,000 spectators, was broadcast to 228 million television viewers worldwide.

          Once the programme's feasibility has been confirmed in the early part of 2006, Peugeot Sport will begin development work on the chassis and engine in close collaboration with PSA Peugeot Citroën's Engineering Department, the expertise of which in the realm of diesel technology is universally recognised.

          The new car will run for the first time at the end of the same year, which means Peugeot will begin racing it in 2007.

          "This is an extremely stimulating new challenge and I am convinced it will generate considerable interest throughout our staff and across our sales networks. I hope this ambitious yet completely achievable project will provide us with a fresh opportunity to demonstrate our ability to win," declared Frédéric Saint-Geours, Managing Director of Automobiles Peugeot.

            Having grown up in England?s rural Herefordshire, a part of the country where the twisty country lanes were frequently used by small overnight rallies, it seemed natural that Michael Park would gain an appetite for rallying. After joining his local motor club, ?Beef?, as he is affectionately known, learned his trade as a navigator on those roads.

            After three years spent gaining experience on local road and special stage rallies with a variety of drivers, Park joined forces with Steve Bennett to tackle Britain?s Peugeot Challenge series in 1990. They finished second and mounted another determined challenge the following year, but again had to settle for the runners-up spot ? beaten only by an improving young driver called Richard Burns!

            The duo tackled several European rallies in 1992 and Park also co-drove for David Williams in a Ford Sierra Cosworth on Britain?s national championship. The organisational skills required of a top-flight co-driver were also being developed as a service co-ordinator for Williams? Genesis Sport team and Peugeot Talbot Sport on the 1992 RAC Rally.

            In 1993, Park linked up with David Higgins and the pair won the Peugeot Challenge, only to be excluded at the end of the season for a technical irregularity. But their pace was rewarded with a works drive in a Peugeot 106 on the 1994 British Championship and they made the most of the opportunity by securing a class win.

            Park worked in the gravel note crew for Subaru driver Richard Burns on several rounds of the 1994 Asia Pacific Championship and on three rounds of the 1995 world championship. In competition he and Higgins joined Ford and drove a works-prepared Escort RS2000 in the British Championship, taking sixth place on the Scottish Rally.

            Park maintained his gravel note relationship with Burns when he moved to Mitsubishi in 1996. The pressures of rallying had become too much to hold down a full-time job and in 1997 he left his job as a metal fabricator to forge a full-time career in the sport, continuing his gravel note duties for Burns until the end of 1998.
            His big break came in 1999 when he partnered Abdullah Bakhashab in a Toyota Corolla WRC. They tackled eight rounds of the world championship in the FIA Teams Cup, ending the season in fourth.

            But for 2000 Park joined up with Markko Märtin for a comprehensive world championship programme in a Corolla, the highlight of which was sixth place on the Cyprus Rally. The duo switched to Subaru for a limited world championship programme in 2001 in an Impreza WRC but, disappointed at not receiving a full programme, they moved to Ford for the 2002 campaign.

            Park guided Märtin through a remarkably consistent year in a Focus RS World Rally Car. The pair finished 12 of the 13 rounds they started and scored points on eight of the last nine rounds, including a career-best second on the final round of the championship in Great Britain.

            A keen all-round sportsman, Park is an enthusiastic football and cricket fan and enjoys shooting.

                  WRC: Richard Burns podlegao teškoj bolesti



                  Bivši Svetski prvak i jedan od najboljih vozača nove generacije, Richard Burns (1971.-2005.) preminuo je nakon teške borbe sa moždanim tumorom. Burns je prvi Englez koji se ovenčao titulom Svetskog prvaka. Tokom 13-godišnje uspešne karijere je ostvario 10 reli pobeda, krasila ga je promišljenost i racionalnost što su cenili navijači, ali i ostali vozači. Nastupao je za ekipe Mitsubishi, Peugeot i Subaru.

                  Richard Burns je rođen 17. januara 1971. u Readingu. Automobilizmom se počeo baviti još kao dečak, a sa 15 godina upisao se u Velšku reli školu. Prvi nastup u reliju ostvario je kao 17-godišnjak, u Svetskom reli prvenstvu debitovao je 1991., a prvu pobedu ostvario je u Keniji 1998.

                  Svetski prvak bio je 2001. sa Subaruom. Još tri puta bio je viceprvak sveta (1999., 2000. i 2002.). U svojoj poslednjoj sezoni (2003.) osvojio je četvrto mesto u ukupnom poretku. Vozio je za Subaru (1993-1995, 1999-2001), Mitsubishi (1996-1998) i Peugeot (2002-2003).
                  2003. za vreme Britanskog relija dijagnostikovan mu je tumor na mozgu, naime onesvestio se za volanom dok je vozio od jedne etape do druge. Lekarske prognoze nisu mu davale puno šansi, ali Burns je verovao da će uspeti pobediti bolest. Zadnje dve godine vodio je hrabru bitku sa opakom bolešću. Nakon brojnih hemoterapija i zračenja, u aprilu ove godine je operisan. Posle operacije stanje se poboljšalo, ali ne zadugo. Poslednjih dana bio je u komi, a smrt je nastupila u petak naveče.

                          In front of world-wide media and VIP guests in Monte-Carlo, the world champion Renault F1 Team today officially launched its 2006 championship campaign with a clear objective: defending the world championship with an aggressive approach to the 2006 season.

                          For 2006, the Renault F1 Team has adapted to significant changes in the technical regulations governing Formula 1. Teams must now run with 2.4L V8 engines (instead of the 3L V10 used in 2005) which have been introduced in order to cap performance, with an initial reduction in power of approximately 20%. These regulations have been framed in order to reduce the potential for development in the medium and long term, thus cutting costs. The change has necessitated the design and development of a brand new engine, the RS26, by the team at Viry-Châtillon. This project has been led since its inception in September 2004 by Léon Taillieu, under the leadership of Engine Technical Director Rob White.

                          The package that has been developed around this new V8 powerplant, is the R26 chassis. The work of a team led by Chief Designer Tim Densham, and guided by Chassis Technical Director Bob Bell, the car represents an aggressive evolution of the championship-winning design philosophy from 2005. Although the aerodynamic regulations have remained stable, the team has designed a brand new package to further optimise chassis performance. The R26 ran for the first time in Jerez, Spain on 10 January, and has since completed over 2700 km in the hands of both race drivers. Initial indications on both performance and reliability have been very encouraging.

                          The race driver line-up for the Renault F1 Team continues unchanged in 2006. The pairing of Fernando Alonso and Giancarlo Fisichella is among the most complete on the grid, and in the coming season, they will be supported by Finn Heikki Kovalainen as test and third driver, after he finished runner-up in the inaugural GP2 series championship in 2005. World Champion Fernando Alonso will enter the season as the man to beat in Formula 1. After being crowned the sport?s youngest champion in 2005, he will hope to defend his world title with the same blend of aggression and precision that defined his driving last year. Although this will be his final season with the Renault F1 Team, the Spaniard enters the new season fully focused on the challenge ahead.

                          For team-mate Giancarlo Fisichella, 2006 will be a year of confirmation. After finishing fifth in last year?s world championship, and playing a key role in Renault?s conquest of the constructors? title, the Italian is aiming to establish himself at the front of the field this year, and to fight for the world title.

                          The final piece in the jigsaw comes in the form of an unchanged portfolio of investment, from the team?s partners and official suppliers. In 2005, the Renault F1 Team provided the best value for money on the Formula 1 grid, achieving a winning return on investment for its partner companies. It is a point that Managing Director Flavio Briatore highlights with pride, as he lays down the gauntlet for 2006.

                            Already, we have seen the 20Cup concept car which provided the first ?look? at the design of the front of a new Peugeot model. Its use of a single rear wheel, was an unexpected and a bold statement, to help maintain the suspense?

                            Today a "special? version of the 207 is conceived ?

                            ?the 207 RCup ?

                            Styled by the Peugeot Style Centre, the 207 RCup reflects with even greater intensity the sporty nature and style of the production 207 ? bold, elegant lines, well proportioned and balanced; it portrays the efficiency of the design and ensures driving enjoyment on a day-to-day basis.

                            With a central red stripe running the length of the body, guiding the eye to the flowing lines of the pure white body, the sides emphasised by a red stylised lion?s head motif, all strengthen the intensity of the overall shape of the vehicle.

                            ? The more sporty shape of the front and rear wings of the 207 RCup, a wider front and rear track than the original 207 and unusually large wheel arches, create a strong aerodynamic design.

                            Proudly exhibiting the sporty credentials of the 207 and taking them to a new level, the 207 RCup concept car appears to be ?glued to the road? with its lower ground clearance reduced to ten centimetres. It creates an impression that it is ready to take any challenge, with its four 18? wheels featuring multiple magnesium spokes and fitted with 235/40R18 tyres. Its two dual rear exhaust pipes, the deep front air dam containing air extraction ducts in front of the front wheels and the rear roof spoiler designed to increase down force, affirm without doubt, the character of the vehicle.


                            The start of a future Peugeot Sport program??

                            On the 207 RCup, the generous glazed surface area of the 207 is heavily tinted ? accentuating the sporty exterior styling.

                            On opening the door, all becomes clear: the 207 RCup follows the design requirements of the Rally Super 2000 category *** with its single compartment chassis and its tubular rollover cage protecting the vital space for the driver and the co-driver, who sit in competition bucket seats securely retained by four-point harnesses ?

                            The interior of the 207 RCup retains the same ?wave-style? fascia panel and the motorcycle dials of the instrument panel found on the original 207. The central section and centre console are coloured red, echoing the exterior decoration, and guiding the expert eye of its driver and co-driver to the essential "racing" instrumentation.

                            On this special version, the rally style design includes, in particular, a light weight steering wheel, whose rim is covered with suede, a large hydraulic handbrake lever and, adjacent to the right-hand side of the steering wheel, a small lever similar to that of the sequential 6-speed gearbox, which controls the four-wheel drive transmission system.

                            What lies at the heart of this dynamic machine, equally at home on asphalt as it is on loose surfaces?

                            Answer: a naturally aspirated 2.0 litre petrol engine with double overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder, with a power of approximately 280 bhp at an engine speed of 8500 rpm ? As dictated by Super 2000 Rally regulations*** !?


                            The next ?generation? of the series?

                            ? follows on from the 205 Turbo 16 and the 206 WRC, both of which supported their respective production models at the time of their individual launches. This new version of the 20. series carries on Peugeot?s sporting tradition and supports the arrival of the 207 hatchback, with a muscle-flexing version with a strong image ? the 207 RCup ? for its part, to be driven on closed roads only.

                            *** The world of the Super 2000?

                            The Super 2000 Rally category consists of group A cars derived from a production model, of which at least 25,000 have been produced.
                            The regulations allow volume manufacturers to offer a very competitive car with four-wheel drive, a naturally aspirated 2.0 litre engine with a power output of 280 bhp and a 6-speed sequential gearbox.

                            The regulations specify specific changes to the production car, in particular wider wings to install McPherson type suspension front and rear, as well as 18? wheels clad with special rally tyres. A maximum width, however, is imposed and all driving assistance systems are prohibited.

                            The Super 2000 category offers a good blend of simplicity/cost/performance, a decisive factor for private teams, international subsidiaries of manufacturers in their national championships ? or simply enthusiasts ?
                            All can take part in World Championship production events alongside vehicles in group N4 (cars resembling production models with four wheel drive and powered by a 2.0 litre turbo charged engine) and be competitive?

                              Peugeot 908 za Le Mans

                              Peugeot za sledeću godinu planira nastupiti na "24 sata Le Mansa" sa bolidom 908 kojeg bi pokretao V12 HDI agregat, koji bi prema najavama trebao razvijati više od 700 KS i 1200 Nm obrtnog momenta. Time bi Peugeot nadmašio Audijev R10 i njegov V10 dizelski agregat koji razvija 650 KS i 1100 Nm.
                              908 bi javnosti trebao biti predstavljen u Parizu na ovogodišnjem salonu automobila ovu jesen.
